There is a place where peace and relaxation blend with fun and good taste, in the Cumbria region of England. Less than a couple of hours away from Liverpool and Manchester this region offers a vastness of events and possibilities.

Windermere is our starting point to discover the beauties of this region. The terrace with swimming pool and outdoor whirlpool of the Beech Hill Hotel & Spa is located in one of the most panoramic points of the lake and offers a complete view of the wonders that this landscape offers us.
It’s no coincidence that the hotel and the surroundings are a reference point and a place for recreation even for those who decide to spend a few days in England and want to take a break from the cities.

The Beech Hill Hotel & Spa has a modern spa with Turkish bath, sauna, an indoor pool and an outdoor hot hub called Lakeview Spa, named for several industry awards. Most of the 57 rooms have private balconies or garden access so you can simply open the glass doors and breathe in the fresh Cumbrian air. From our room we had in fact a privileged view of the lake and so we decided to drink a chocolate and a coffee (we found everything we needed in the room) and to relax on the balcony of the room.

In addition to the beauty of the room and the hotel in general, the spa is what I most appreciated; at the entrance towels are provided which can be changed every time one’s own is too wet while the water is always available to guests in the nearby. At the entrance we found a Himalayan sauna and on the opposite side an aromatic steam room, all overlooking an indoor pool where you can swim and cool off. Outside? the lakeview vitality spa.

Do you live in the nearby? You can also decide to take out a subscription to the spa only! The monthly cost is £ 39.00 but it is not necessary to pay the annual subscription as you can decide to pay from month to month or do it to save a month (the one-month membership fee is eliminated). All members will also receive a 10% discount on Spa treatments and products, as well as a Diners Club membership that offers discounts for evening meals throughout the year at the Burlington’s restaurant.

In the evening you can relax on the panoramic terrace and enjoy the fantastic view, as well as sipping a drink inside the structure on comfortable sofas in the main room, also with a wonderful view thanks to the windows that radiate light throughout the room.

In the evening, after a boat ride and a tour of the lake, we prepare ourselves for a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant; The Burlingtons Restaurant that will surprise you with refined and unique dishes.

We wake up in the morning with a delicious breakfast served at the restaurant with a wide buffet selection and with the possibility to choose à la carte. My favorite breakfast is the sweet one and even for this my need the hotel has been able to fully fulfill my wishes.

Let’s explore the surroundings!

Windermere (an area also known as the Southern Lakes) is certainly the place that attracts the most tourists but can offer unique services such as lake cruises, excursions, walks and good food. The ideal time to visit the lake is spring when the weather begins to clear but at the same time there is still the typical crush of August.

Watersports

The lake is a destination for water sports and there are numerous marinas on its shores. When weather permits, these rivers and lakes are also warm enough to allow bathers to swim near the shore.
The hotel together with WakeNation offer a range of water activities such as:

Wake Boarding (max 4 people)
Wake Surfing (max 4 people)
Lessons / Instructions
Days out: Team Building / Corporate Events / Birthdays …
Boat rental with skipper
Stand Up Paddle Boards rental.

Bowness Bay is located not far from the hotel and is the starting point for ferries and excursions that can be made in the area. You do not need to use the car to move to this incredible UNESCO area as using the available means is very easy and recommended by the local guide. You can in fact use the covered / uncovered buses (in the case of a nice day) and download the Stagecoach Bus App app to plan your itinerary.

Lakes by Bus

You can then decide whether to use the buses or the hop on & offs with a cost of £ 8.50 per day which will allow you to get on and off any stop they take on the way! The 599 bus runs every 20 minutes from Bowness to Grasmere or the 508 bus that connects Penrith to Ullswater. On the buses there is all the comfort possible thanks to free wifi and electrical outlets (599 buses).
